This is definitely one of my favourite breakfasts, and like most things is usually full of refined sugar and white bread, so I have done a healthy twist on this classic breakfast dish. You can get creative with your toppings or you can go the old favourites of strawberries and maple syrup like I have here. Enjoy!

How good are waffles! But like pancakes, they can be full of things that aren't so good for you - e.g sugar and white flour.
I am currently on a mission to cut right back on my refined sugar intake, as I was just eating way too much each day. But I didn't want to miss out on the 'good stuff', so I am finding ways to crowd out the not so good with healthier options. I topped my waffles with Hazelnut Chocolate spread from Loving Earth, fresh strawberries and 100% pure maple syrup. My breastfeeding journey second time around has been very up and down, so I have been wanting to do what I can to try and keep up my supply. You can read some more of my tips for healthy breastfeeding here.
I am currently loving this smoothie concoction that I made up a few weeks back which I wanted to share with you. I don't think I will stop drinking it after my breastfeeding journey is over with either. It is so delicious! I have added ingredients that help support lactation - oats to promote lactation. Coconut milk, flax oil, avocado and chia seeds which are all healthy fats needed for healthy lactation and protein powder to help give the smoothie some body to keep you feeling full. This is the first in my new video blog series...I listened to your feedback on Instagram (thank you!) and 100% of you wanted me to do videos on the recipes that I make, so here is the first in what I'm sure will be many.
It is super quick and super yummy! If you crave chocolate, like moi, then this will definitely be a healthy option to curb that craving. You get the chocolate hit but with the goodness of antioxidants (cacao has over 40 times more antioxidants than blueberries), iron, magnesium, protein, fibre, vitamins and healthy fats. What isn't to love! Boy has it been cold in Melbourne the past few days. We are in the middle of Winter now and the cold and flu are doing their annual spread around to the population. So yesterday I decided to put together a winter wellness soup which has lots of goodies to help beat that nasty cold this season. Or other wise just to help warm your belly. I hope you like it!
Hot cacao is my new go to drink this winter! It is delicious, good for you and most importantly, warms you up. Depending on what you are making this drink in will determine the quantities, so go with your taste.
Muesli bars are a staple item in any kids lunch box or even big kids. But did you know that one muesli bar can contain up to 7 teaspoons of sugar? Healthy they say!!
Grown men should only have 9 teaspoons of sugar per day, so they can have one muesli bar and not much else. So I wanted to show you how easy and simple making your own muesli bars are for you and your kids. One bowl is all you need and you can add whatever you want into them, so get the kids involved and have fun making these each week. Put your hand up if you love a good muffin? Me!!!! But did you know the muffins you buy in your typical cafe are FULL of refined sugar? Not cool.
The other morning I decided to put together my own little creation which is refine sugar free and dairy free for some friends that were coming over for brunch, they were a hit! |
