Have you ever had the feeling of regret? Or did something you're not proud of? I bet you have, I think everyone has at some stage in their life. Today I want to chat to you about how you should never have any regrets in your life because they are all lessons which have made you the fabulous person you are today.
I know for me personally I have done, said, participated or missed out on something that I used to regret. I used to regret my first real relationship when I was in my late teens, not because of him but because I let it go on much longer than it should have. I used to regret not saying yes to more opportunities when I was younger. I used to regret not studying harder in high school. And it goes on...
As I am going along my journey called life and reflecting on past experiences, I can now see how I learnt so much from each experience that I did or didn't do. There was a reason for each situation in my life, it was there to teach me something. Even the horrible and heartbreaking experiences have a lesson, even if at the time we don't know what it is. You will see it when you look back on it in years to come and be thankful for it.
Now let's get honest here with a story of mine...I had a hard time in my late high school years and ended up finishing VCE via correspondence because of the shit I went through at high school, I ended up with depression. At this time I was also with the above mentioned boyfriend and I now look back and see that we were together because he helped get me through that hard time in my life. If it wasn't for him being there who knows what would have happened to me. When our relationship ended I was heart broken, he was my first love and he treated me terribly towards the end so I had feelings of hatred towards him but now I am thankful for him. Lesson learnt *tick*. Move on *tick*.
"Hindsight is a wonderful thing
Don't dwell on the past; accept it, embrace it, thank it and move on. Don't keep bringing it up, it happened and you can't change it. Just make sure if you know the lesson keep it for future reference and don't repeat old habits that didn't serve you then because they most likely won't serve you the second time round.
Do you have any regrets? Do you have any past regrets but can now see the lesson from it? Share with me in the comments below, it would be an honour to hear from you.
