I am excited as always to bring you a new Radiant + Inspiring woman, and this month let me introduce you to Naomi Arnold the founder of Project Healthy Happy Me. I haven't known Naomi very long but she is someone who I clicked with instantly, don't you just love that?! She is a life & wellness coach with a background in psychology, counselling and health. Get comfy and enjoy this month's radiant & inspiring woman, you are going to love it. Plus she shares her favourite green juice recipe that even her toddler son enjoys. + Why do you do what you do? What motivated or inspired you? There are so many reasons, motivations, and inspirations for why I created Project Healthy Happy Me. The main reason is that I am super passionate about helping people realise their uniqueness, beauty and potential - and then supporting them in using these realisations to live a healthy, happy and purposeful life. I truly want to help people and make a difference in the world - and I believe that Project Healthy Happy Me is an avenue for how I can do this. In terms of what motivated or inspired me to launch Project Healthy Happy Me - that was a culmination of a number of personal experiences. These included overcoming: • People Pleaser-itis: I have always prided myself as being someone who helped others. I would do everything I could to make people happy - even if it meant sacrificing my own needs. After being mistreated, hurt and run down way too many times, I finally realised that I needed to value myself more. I still wanted to be big hearted and generous, but I needed to balance this with prioritising my own needs. • Body Battles: After participating in a well-known body transformation program, I experienced significant health issues and a luckily short-lived eating disorder. Despite the ‘success’ many other women experienced through the program, it was absolutely not right for my body or mindset. I then went on a journey of learning to listen to my body and it’s needs and find my own unique path to health and wellness. • Career Confusion: I spent years in paralysis by analysis due to uncertainty around what direction to take with my career. I knew that I wanted to own my own business and that I wanted to help people, but I didn’t know how to do this or where to start. I had so many different interests and passions. When I went on maternity leave, I committed to exploring my options and actually follow through on some of them despite my confusion. I was amazed at the doors that opened for me as a result. Through these lessons, and many more, I became passionate about helping women who were big hearted and generous, and who were so busy looking after others, that their own needs were often neglected. I wanted to help them discover their own unique path to having a life and body they love. Project Healthy Happy Me was born as a result. + What quote do you live by at the moment? “Self care is just as important as every item on my To Do list.” I am always super busy, so I created this quote or affirmation to remind me of how important Self Care and Me Time is. + If you could share one piece of advice for a newbie to the wellness world, what would you tell them? My one piece of advice to newbies in the wellness world would be to remember that you are incredibly unique. Your body, mind and soul is one of a kind. What works for others, therefore might not work for you. This is relevant to every aspect of wellness - what we eat, how we move, our mindsets, our inner strengths, our values, and our behaviours. Use your journey in the wellness world to learn more about your unique self and find your own path to living a healthy, happy, and purposeful life. + What would you tell your 14 year old self? There are so many things that I’d love to tell my 14 year old self - but I know that she wouldn’t understand what I have to say at that point in her life. She needs to experience the lessons for herself in order to truly appreciate them. I think I would just remind her that she is incredibly special. That her body, mind and soul are unique. And that with each experience and lesson in life, she will learn more about this uniqueness and how she can draw on it moving forward. The more she draws on it, the more empowered she will be to help people and to make the difference in the world that I know she is craving for, even at age 14. + What is your favourite meal to cook? Can you share the recipe with us? It isn’t a meal per se, and I know it’s stereotypical of someone who works in the wellness field, but I absolutely love making my daily green juice. It is a huge hit in my family - especially with my 18 month old who giggles and squeals “juice” in excitement when I get the blender out. Toddler Raving Green Juice Makes 4 - 5 jars. Blend the following ingredients in a high powered blender: INGREDIENTS 400ml coconut water 400ml cold water 2 x carrots 3 x celery stalks 1/2 cup of broccoli (note: you can use the main stalk as well) 1/2 cup of frozen grapes 2 cups of baby spinach leaves 1 x lemon (juice only) + It can be tough starting up a business, what has been your biggest lesson learnt so far on this journey? The biggest lesson I have learnt is to prioritise self care and Me Time. I have noticed that when these practices begin to slip, I not only feel less energetic and vibrant, but I am less creative and productive too. + What is your favourite way to move your body? My absolute favourite way to move my body is to go bushwalking or to explore nature. I love climbing mountains and looking at the wonderful view at the top, walking through the bushland and watching the animal life play, or getting sand between my toes as I walk along the beach listening to the waves. This is then followed by yoga, running, and using my free Move That Body playing cards. + How would you like to be remembered? I would like to be remembered as someone who helped others realise their individual uniqueness, beauty and potential. As someone who would back them up, cheer them on, and guide them to discovering how incredibly gifted they are. As someone who supported them in using these gifts to make a difference in the world. I would also like to be remembered as someone who was honest, kind, and generous - and who always stood up for those who are disadvantaged or unfairly treated. ........................................
