Let me introduce you to the very lovely Alana Wimmer who is the founder of the mini digital publishing house, Raspberry Stripes and the digital publication Raspberry Magazine. Alana and I connected through the wonderful world of the internet when I came across Raspberry Magazine. I fell in love with this mag from the very first issue and since then I look forward to the new issue hitting my inbox. I love it so much I have become an affiliate so if you feel the call click on my link here to be taken straight to the Raspberry Magazine website through my link. You will LOVE this mag if you are a lady online entrepreneur, freelancer or blogger. Or just any one wanting to read some great content from inspiring ladies. And the best bit, issue one is free so you can try before you buy! Get comfy lovely and enjoy getting to know Alana... + What do you do? And why do you do it? I'm a graphic designer for rad online ladies, and the founder and editor of digital publication Raspberry Magazine. My mission is to use great design and share compelling stories to help propel socially conscious women to be successful in online business, and in turn effect positive change and experience freedom, fulfillment and fun! + What quote do you live by at the moment that you refer back to when you need a little bit of a shove back in the right direction? Oh great question. My good old favourite is "Be the change you wish to see in the world", by Gandhi. It pairs beautifully with Paulo Coehlo's quote: "The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion." + If you could share one piece of advice for a newbie to the wellness world, what would you tell them? I'd say, how exciting and welcome! Read lots, implement a small change at a time and see how you feel. There's a lot of information out there - don't try to take action on everything, you'll go crazy! Oh, and try raw desserts. + What motivated and inspired you to begin Raspberry Magazine? I have always loved magazines. I studied journalism at university and worked for a few publications before drifting away into other careers, but that love never went away. Once I began working as a graphic designer, creating eBooks for inspiring entrepreneurs (pretty much mini magazines in their own right!), I realised how much I wanted to create something bigger which could help more people - and my lovely business coach helped me figure out what to do next. Now I can't imagine not having Raspberry Magazine as part of my business! + It can be tough starting up a business, what has been your biggest lesson learnt so far on this journey? I think something I wasn't necessarily prepared for is the sheer perseverance required to run and grow a business. Having the passion and love is incredibly important to getting started and staying inspired, but beyond that is the truth that a whole business rests solely on your shoulders, and that's a lot of responsibility! For me, the pros outweigh the cons, and I am so grateful to run this little empire of mine; but sometimes imagining a week without thinking business sounds like heaven! + What is your favourite way to move your body? Yoga is magical to me. I love it. It's hard to describe, but to me, yoga feels like truth. Just my mind, body and the moment. + As an entrepreneur we can tend to work long hours and late nights because we are working for ourselves, how do you find a balance between working and living life? I honestly don't think I'm brilliant at maintaining work/life balance, and I do work too much :) However, I do try to balance 12-hour days with an extra day off once in a while, or a midday yoga class, or watching a few eps of The Good Wife during 'work hours'. I love working in intensive blocks, then taking time to recover - it's just how I operate! + What would you tell your 14 year old self? Relax! It will all be alright. And also, have way more faith in yourself - you have a lot more choices in your future than you think :) ........................................
