Give a very big and warm welcome to the lovely Christie the founder of Eat.More.Plants who was kind enough to share some of her nutrition words of wisdom with you, my beautiful reader. Why Nutrition Is Important...It goes without saying that nutrition is just as important in any weight loss regime as the fitness and exercise side of things. But what about during your everyday, regularity, where you might not have any weight to lose? Is nutrition really that important then? What if I told you that you are made up of trillions of cells that come together to form an orchestra that creates and plays the master piece that you are. Do you think you would need to ensure proper fuel so that the master piece keeps playing? You betcha! The old adage “We are what we eat” is still true these days even if we don’t want to believe it. By fuelling your body with more fresh whole foods and less processed foods, you’re already on the path to looking and feeling better. Did you know that essential fatty acids like fish oil, flaxseed oil and walnuts all help (and are essential) to smooth skin, optimum brain function, and healthy hair? And tumeric is incredible at fighting inflammatory pains, as well as ensuring healthy gut function and liver detoxification? And these are just two examples. Every meal we have the choice – to eat in a way that serves our health, promotes detoxification, keeps us lean, with smooth skin, strong nails, and aiming for a long healthy life… Or to choose the foods that are going to wreak havoc on our system causing bloating, gas, and dry skin, early onset inflammatory conditions, joint pains, wrinkles, ill health and an early grave. What will you choose? My Quick Tips to keeping Lean and feeling your best: + Load up on veggies first; all your favs and try to buy different ones each week. + Enjoy good quality fats like avocado, nuts and seeds, coconut oil, organic butter and ghee. + Eat protein with all meals; grass fed animal meats, fish and seafood, legumes, nuts and seeds, eggs, tempeh. + Enjoy fruit in small amounts; avoiding the higher sugar bananas, pineapple and mango if you’re on a fat loss program. + Smoothies are the best way to get additional nutrients in everyday. + Hydration is key; 2-3L of the filtered stuff daily. + Chew your food properly and sit down to eat. + Don’t deny your indulgence favourites; raw chocolate, bliss balls, potato chips, white wine… just don’t eat them everyday. ...................................
