Smoothie bowls are the best! They are colourful, healthy and filling. Plus you can get creative and turn it into a piece of art.
I cam across this smoothie bowl idea a few months ago and it is my go to when I feel like one for breakfast or lunch. I was a bit uncertain about how peanut butter would go with acai, but it works. I have made little tweaks to the recipe to make it my own.

OMG!! These are my all time favourite healthy snack. They satisfy my sweet tooth and addiction to chocolate. If you haven't tried them, you're missing out!
They are easy, healthy plus sugar free, dairy free and gluten free. WIN! I love overnight oats, they are so simple, healthy and as a mum of two, it is a brekkie I can make the night before. Win win!
Oats are so good for you, they are full of fibre, can help lower bad cholesterol, control blood pressure and keep you feeling fuller for longer. And that is just the benefits of the oats, not to mention the benefits of the nuts and seeds you can add to your overnight oats. So needless to say, overnight oats are a great healthy breakfast option that even kids love. One of my childhood favourites!
They were always at parties or cake stalls at Primary School. They are crunchy and crackly, but also when I looked at the ingredients to make some for Ava, there was 1 1/2 cups of sugar in them. WTF??!! What child needs that much sugar? Obviously they aren't going to eat the whole batch, but geez! So in true Kylie recipe creating fashion, I turned the humble chocolate crackle into a much more healthier version that doesn't compromise on taste. This warming drink not only tastes delicious but is also full of ingredients that your body will love! Plus you will most likely have the ingredients in your pantry.
Turmeric has become a superfood of late and that is for good reason, it is so good for helping with inflammation in your body and the added cinnamon is great to help stabilise your blood sugar levels. Also, turmeric needs black pepper so the body can absorb all the benefits of turmeric, so make sure you add that to your latte. Need I say more?! This is definitely one of my favourite breakfasts, and like most things is usually full of refined sugar and white bread, so I have done a healthy twist on this classic breakfast dish. You can get creative with your toppings or you can go the old favourites of strawberries and maple syrup like I have here. Enjoy! How good are waffles! But like pancakes, they can be full of things that aren't so good for you - e.g sugar and white flour.
I am currently on a mission to cut right back on my refined sugar intake, as I was just eating way too much each day. But I didn't want to miss out on the 'good stuff', so I am finding ways to crowd out the not so good with healthier options. I topped my waffles with Hazelnut Chocolate spread from Loving Earth, fresh strawberries and 100% pure maple syrup. My breastfeeding journey second time around has been very up and down, so I have been wanting to do what I can to try and keep up my supply. You can read some more of my tips for healthy breastfeeding here.
I am currently loving this smoothie concoction that I made up a few weeks back which I wanted to share with you. I don't think I will stop drinking it after my breastfeeding journey is over with either. It is so delicious! I have added ingredients that help support lactation - oats to promote lactation. Coconut milk, flax oil, avocado and chia seeds which are all healthy fats needed for healthy lactation and protein powder to help give the smoothie some body to keep you feeling full. |
