Why do we wait for 'special occasions'?

Why do we wait is a question I asked myself the other night, you are probably wondering what is she on about, ambiguous much?

The other night my husband was out and I decided to give myself a face mask, which I haven't done in ages and then I lathered myself in beautiful smelling body butter. I thought this is so nice, I should pamper myself more often. Then it got me thinking, why do we wait for a perfect time or a special occasion? Why can't we do or use something all the time?

I have been trying to get myself out of this type of thinking when it comes to really nice crockery, clothes, jewellery, candles and the list goes on. I used to be that person that said "I will save that for a special occasion." But why? Isn't today, this very moment, a special occasion? Shouldn't I treat myself every day?

Treat this moment and every moment as a special occasion, life is too short and too stressful not to wear your favourite outfit, or burn your favourite candle or even have a relaxing bubble bath every single night. It is all about making the time for you, you are amazing and deserve it.

''These things will just sit on the shelf un-used and wasted instead of being enjoyed and loved.
If this post resonates with you and you find yourself nodding in agreement, I would now love for you to grab a piece of paper and a pen, sit somewhere quiet and list down all the things that you leave for a special occasion. It can be material things or it can be things like pampering yourself with a pedicure or face mask.

Once you have written them down I want you to stick this piece of paper somewhere you will see it regularly, for the material things pop them in a place they are easy to get to so you will now use them.

When you want a quiet day or night look at the list and choose one, two or all of the non-material things and do them, enjoy them and love them!

::

My list:

+ Burn my favourite candle

+ Use my favourite mug I got from Disneyland every day (I didn't want it to break, but if it breaks it means I have used it which is what this is all about)

+ Pop on a face mask

+ Give myself a pedicure

+ Enjoy a bubble bath with essential oils and read the time away

+ Make a pot of my favourite tea, pop my pillows on the floor and read a magazine

+ Wear my favourite jeans

+ Dance around the house singing at the top of my lungs and laugh at myself

+ Sit in stillness outside in nature

+ Go to my local café on my own and grab a coffee

Share with me in the comment box below some or all of the items on your list, let's be in this together and start using and doing all the things that make us happy!! xx

Be happy & healthy,
