When it comes to exercise, be accountable!

A couple of weeks ago one of my amazing besties started a private Facebook page which is all about  supporting and motivating each other to exercise. 3 weeks ago she started an exercise program called 'Insanity', if you haven't heard of it the name pretty much sums it up. It is 5 days per week of intense exercise and 1 day of core and flexibility so a total of 6 days per week. All the exercises can be done at home because it is DVD based, easy peasy right? Well I must say fitting in 6 days per week of exercise is tough but she has done it for 3 weeks and is now into her fourth week, needless to say I am super proud of her.

The thing about exercise is that sometimes life gets in the way or you lose your mojo but since my friend put this Facebook page together where we share photos of us post work out (sexy in deed) and motivate each other when we just can't be bothered, it sure helps.

I always knew the effect of accountability and exercise but since being part of it, it has made me realise how effective it really is.

When you tell someone else (friend, family member or work colleague) what you are doing you are now accountable to them because they will most likely ask you how you are going with whatever it is that you're doing. It is a great tool to get you off the couch and into your workout clothes!

So my homework for you is when you start something new, whether it be joining a new gym, doing a new program or starting personal training tell someone that you trust and that will cheer you along on your journey (no people that will sabotage you allowed).

When you know that they know, you will get out there and kick some serious butt because you don't want to be seen as someone that gives up when the going gets tough.

I will now be accountable to you all, I have just started a program this week which is 12 weeks in length and my end goal is to be able to run 10km. I have never been a strong long distant runner so I would love to be able to accomplish this. I need to exercise 6 days per week and so far I have completed 2 out of my 6 days this week.

I would love to hear what you are doing...be accountable to me and all my readers because we will be your cheer squad!

Be happy & healthy,
