If you are a regular reader of my blog you would have read that I have started a new exercise program, learning to run 10km without stopping. I'm not a very strong runner so for me to be able to achieve this is huge! Give me strength and weights and I'm fine but with cardio I really struggle.

I have decided to share with you my journey and it will also help keep me accountable.

This week I have exercised 6 days straight, crazy I know...let's see how long I can actually maintain this (3-4 times per week is more than enough) and I may need to cut back depending on my schedule and how my body feels.

Needless to say after 6 days straight my body is tired. Last night I had a nice hot bath to sooth my tired muscles. The thing to remember with training like this is it is important to alternate what you are doing each day so you give your muscles a chance to recover other wise you are putting yourself at risk of over training and potentially injuring yourself. So be careful and be mindful!

Here is what I have done this week:

Day One

Jogging and interval sprints, it was hard this week to find a non raining period to be outside so I could do this.

Day Two

Strength day of mainly legs and abs.

Day Three

It was raining so I had to change my days around so I did another strength day but this time it was upper body and core work.

Day Four

Finally we had a clear morning; I had to run for 12 minutes straight and note the distance I travelled and I will be doing this each week. A total distance including walking and jogging home, 2.79km. Stretches when I got home for 5-10mins.

Day Five

Today was a nice day of stretching and core, nothing too strenuous thank goodness, I was hurting today.

Day Six

Was meant to be a running day but my husband and I really needed to get started on our cycling training for our charity ride early next year so we rode 16.5km in just over an hour (plenty of hills and my quads are sore).

Now I am planning on doing nothing for the rest of the weekend, my body needs the rest so that is what I will be giving it. I must admit though I am feeling great and my skin has a nicer clear glow to it.

Keep an eye out to see how I go next week....6 days come at me!!

Be happy & healthy,
