My husband and I were at a friends place the other night for a BBQ and we some how got onto looking at photos from different events and places through the telly (so a big screen). A photo came up on the big screen of me from another friends wedding about 3 years ago (when I was at my heaviest). I almost fell off the couch, here was a photo of me with 10 extra kilos staring back at me from the tellie. It was a shock and cringe worthy for me. I forgot how big I actually looked (to myself any way) and this was a big kick up the bum for me.
Over the festive season my healthy eating and exercise slacked off a little bit (not completely) and I knew I needed a kick up the back side to get me back into my healthy routine. Boy did that photo do it for me! This week I am back to my healthy eating habits and my morning routine of exercise, meditation and a healthy breakfast. I feel so much better for doing this each day and don't know how I could stop doing it the past 2 weeks.
This story lead me to telling you all how powerful before and after photos can be; seeing yourself back however long ago when you felt yucky about yourself is powerful. Your mind kicks in and says "hang on a minute, I am NOT going back to that".
A lot of you would have seen the above photo of my before and after photo collage that I put up on Facebook a few months back. I appreciate seeing how far I have come in the past 2.5 years with my health and fitness. To date I have now lost 10kg since the before photos. Amazing!
I highly recommend you do the same so you can appreciate your hard work and see how far you have come. Take them every couple of months and the results will astound you as well as give you that push to get back into your healthy routine when you start to slack off a bit!
