Taking time for you isn't lazy...

I am so lucky and blessed that I work for myself but as great as it is, I put in the hard yards and work sometimes up to 12 hours a day. I know that sounds crazy but I love my job and my business so much that time flies and I don't even realise I have worked that long. Mind you that isn't back to back appointments, a lot of that is admin, marketing, blogging, planning classes and personal training sessions.

Even though I love it so much, at the end of some weeks I am utterly exhausted. I need to be on my game with every single appointment and class that I do and it can be an energy zapper.
So recently I realised that it is so important for me to take 'me' time and not drive myself into the ground because who will be there for my clients and me?

Each day I schedule in my lunch break where I step away from my computer and my phone and I go and enjoy my lunch with no technology near me.

It is really important to be present when you are eating because you know when you are full and you appreciate your food a lot more. When I worked in an office I was one of those people who ate lunch at her desk which I now see as a big no no, if you do this get away from your desk and you will be surprised how refreshed you feel after only 15 minutes of being away from your computer. Your sanity is at stake!
I now also use Tuesday's as my take it easy day; I only have appointments in the evening so I allow myself this day to sleep until I naturally wake up, enjoy a yummy cooked breakfast and just do whatever it is I feel like. I used to feel bad about doing this, thinking I was being lazy if I stayed in my PJ's until 11am or not putting my alarm on but I have realised how important this day is for me. I work 6 days a week so having a few hours for me one week day is so important and helps me refocus and relax.

It is a hard thing to be ok with because what will others think? I'm telling you, WHO CARES! You need to do what is best for you and if that means Sunday is your day of rest, well sleep in, stay in your PJ's all day, whatever it is that you want to do, do it! We all need a chance to relax and let our mind forget all the worries of the world.

As women, another time to be ok with taking it a little easier, is that time of the month. Your body is going nuts with hormones racing around and it usually comes with headaches, back pain and all other sorts of symptoms so I give you permission to take it down a notch and really look after yourself at this time. Feed your body amazing healthy food, relax a little more, drinks lots of water and get enough sleep.

I hope this post has made you rethink what taking time for you means and that it doesn't equal lazy. Your homework this week is to look at your diary and schedule in some 'you time' where you can do whatever it is that you want to do.

Share with me in the comments below, what is it that you would do during 'you time'?

If you love this post, share it around and let everyone know that taking time for you isn't lazy!

Be happy & healthy,
