Take back control of your voice...

Whether you are a blogger, writer or neither, do you sometimes feel as though you have lost control of your voice and sometimes even your thoughts?

I know I do.

In a world full of constant interaction through social media do we ever just get a chance to sit with ourselves and daydream. To have our own thoughts that haven't been influenced by someone or something else.

Very rarely.

I need to check in with myself every now and then, as I do with a lot of things, and make sure that what I'm putting out to the world via my blog, social media and my emails to you, are truly and authentically me. I question, is this someone else's idea that I read but forgot about? Or is it genuinely me. Am I actually feeling this way, or have I seen something that has told me I need to feel this way.

Does this ring true for you too?
It is a constant battle and something I'm becoming more aware of and trying to cut back on because I want to be me, not someone else.

Recently I made a decision to unlike a lot of pages on my personal Facebook page. My feed was inundated with all sorts of content, some helpful, some not. Some I resonated with and some I didn't. I felt as though I needed to support this person or that friend, but I had to take a stand.

I felt as though I was losing my voice and my style of writing because of all this information. Because of other bloggers. This was subconsciously happening until I woke up to it.

Again, like I mentioned above, you don't have to be a writer to lose control of your voice and thoughts. There is an overload of information out there and most of it is contradictory. How confusing?!

Should I be doing this? Or should I be doing that?

I'll do this eCourse and I'll buy that book because everyone else is doing it.

Next time these come up for you, stop and ask yourself...do I need this? Does this serve me? If the answer is no, walk away. If the answer is yes, go for it hunnie!!

I now only follow pages through my business page that really resonate with me and allow me the space to still be myself. Everything else is left behind. I unlike pages on my personal page as I see them, so I apologise if you have asked me to like your page and I haven't but maybe my business page has liked it instead. This gives me the space to only see these pages when I'm in business mode and in that frame of mind.

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing what other bloggers and people of influence are up to and of course supporting my friends, but sometimes we all just need a break. Doing this on Facebook has allowed me to see what my friends and family are up to when I check my personal profile instead of a whole heap of other information.

Do you feel constricted or overwhelmed with what you see on social media? Have you done a similar thing as me? Share with me in the comments below.

:: WELLNESS TO-DO ::

I would love for you to give this a try. Unfollow and unlike any pages that don't resonate with you any more. It opens up space for you to find yourself again. To be motivated and inspired when you check social media and not feel hassled, inundated and overwhelmed.

Hi Kylie,

Thanks for this post! Over the past few weeks I have found that I have liked or followed so many pages on social media that others all follow. I found that I didn't really resonate with these pages so ive gone through and unliked them. Was really empowering!

Oh I love that Alana!! How good does it feel to take back control?! I'm so happy that you have done this and felt empowered by it. We only need to see things that resonate with us and leave the rest. Just because others are liking or doing something, doesn't me we need to also follow. Much love hunnie xx

OMG YAH!!! Nailed it lovey!! And I am soo down with the unfollowing thing! It's so easy to get caught up isn't it? And try to blend with what's working for others so we think it will work for us? Hells no. Rocking our own truths all the way!!! XXX

Thanks so much hun!! How good is the unfollowing thing?! I have lost myself a couple of times in others work especially at the beginning of my blogging journey. Taking back control is so liberating! xxxx
