I love having a shower, it is my relaxing time where I am alone and can take a few deep breaths, before hoping back into mumhood. That is when my girls don't come on in and join me in the bathroom.
A couple of years back I heard about the benefits of having a cold shower. Yep a COLD shower (brrrrrr).
After the first time tried it a couple of weeks ago I felt so invigorated and alert when I got out of the shower, I knew I had to commit to a regular practice of finishing off my shower with the water temp on chilly.
It works wonders at 5:30am when I am getting into the shower almost asleep, needing to get ready for a personal training client.
I shared this experience on Instagram and heard back from some of my followers that they do it too and love it. So I dived deeper into what the actual benefits are of having a cold shower, and here is what I found:
Okay I am sold. Anything that will help me feel better and alert, I am all for that.
How I incorporate it into my shower is, I have my usual hot shower and then at the end once I'm done, I slowly turn the shower to cold. I take a deep breath and try to breathe through the shock of the cold water. It must be a funny sight, but I feel so refreshed and alert once I hop out of the shower. Aim for at least 1 minute and I've been told you get used to it and can go longer.
