For the past few months I have been taking a wellness and self-love journey as some of my regular followers would know. This pretty much means being happy with who I am as a person, not worrying or stressing about tomorrow and being thankful for all the wonderful things that happen in my life. It is such a wonderful practice as you let go of things that just don't matter and it really makes you connect with yourself and the amazing world we live in.
I love reading Wellness blogs to learn new ways to keep on track with this because it is so easy to slip back into old habits of stress, anxiety and fear. Some of my favourite life and wellness coaches are Melissa Ambrosini from Path to Wellness, Tara Bliss from Such Different Skies and Jess Ainscough from Wellness Warrior. These women are inspirational and I highly recommend you check out their websites if you are interested.
Because I have become so passionate about this journey and just love the way it makes me look at life I thought I should become a wellness coach so I can pass on my experience to others and help them get this positive outlook on life.
So what is wellness coaching and how does it differ from life coaching or health coaching, well here is the answer:
WELLNESS COACHING ~ "Wellness Coaching is a field in which accredited health and fitness professionals apply evidence based techniques from coaching psychology and positive psychology to assist their clients to master wellness and optimal health through cognitive and behaviour change. Wellness Coaching focuses on mental and physical behaviours relating to nutrition, exercise, weight control and stress management."
LIFE COACHING ~ "Life Coaching is about assisting a client in closing the gap between where they are and where they want to be. It is usually for business, relationships and finance."
HEALTH COACHING ~ "Health Coaching is a practice in which accredited health professionals apply evidence based psychology, counselling and coaching principles and techniques to assist their patients to achieve positive health and lifestyle outcomes." Health Coaches deal with people that have chronic health problems.
So as you can see from the above description Wellness Coaching goes hand in hand with what I already do as a personal trainer but it will give me the extra knowledge to be able to help specifically with what is going on in your head when it comes to exercise, healthy living and stress management. A lot of people struggle with staying on track and it all comes down to what is going on in your mind; change that around and you will succeed.
I will also be offering Food Coaching which allows me to give specific meal plans and nutrition advice, a lot more than the basic advice I am able to offer as a personal trainer now.
I am so excited about being able to offer these extra services because what you eat and how you think is going to determine whether you are able to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Exercise is only a small part of it.
Watch this space for when these two services become available and if you have any questions about this topic please leave a comment below.
* Please note, they will be offered as separate services to personal training. If you don't live in or around Craigieburn I will be offering my sessions on Skype so you can be in another State of Australia or in a completely different country.
Be happy & healthy,
