Be kind to others...

After hearing about the death of Charlotte Dawson on Saturday afternoon I was compelled to write this blog post about my thoughts and feelings on this.

I didn't know a whole lot about Charlotte except seeing her on Australia's Next Top Model and every now and then on Sunrise, but the most well known thing is her fight against bullying and internet trolls. It amazes me that there are people in this world that feel as though they have the right to put others down and with such horrible words and hatred, why do they feel the need to do this? I guess we will never know the answer to this question and I think it is best to not even try.

I don't think people understand the power of their words and especially to someone that is already vulnerable and not coping with life as it is. I suffered from depression in my late teens so I know the dark places it can take you and how hard it is to pull yourself out. I was bullied in primary school at different stages and again in high school and it hurts. I was lucky in the fact that I was able to get past it and move on with my life.

By me having this blog and writing publicly about my thoughts and opinions puts me up for scrutiny as well but that is the nature of the game with writing a blog. Who knows how I will feel one day when I get some bad comments but all I know is I will do my best to not let people like that get the better of me.

I don't know why it is so hard for people to be kind to others, it seems as though it is easier to be nasty and to be honest we are even nasty to ourselves...got to love our ego (voice in our head). That is why I want to inspire you to change the way you think and think kindness even towards yourself. And no judging others, because who knows what battles that other person is fighting.

Today, try to do something kind for someone else. Smile at a stranger, write a note and put it in a random letter box, compliment someone on what they are wearing, ask someone how they are but truly mean it and fully listen to their answer...it can be anything but make it kind.

We need to spread more kindness in this world because what kind of place will it end up becoming?!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic, leave a comment below.

Be happy & healthy,
