Pregnancy is definitely a roller coaster and a steep learning curve, but one that I am thoroughly enjoying...even as I am entering the uncomfortable stage.
I had a beautiful moment with my baby this week which made me think of the other moments that have happened during my pregnancy which brought me to tears.
I would love for you to think about your pregnancy if you are currently pregnant or think back if you are already a mama. If you are in your early stages of pregnancy you have these moments to look forward to, so get excited!
What moments come up for you? What has brought you to tears? Reflect on these moments because they are sacred and are only for you and your baby.
I have always wanted to be a mum. I used to be the street babysitter when I was a young teenager. Always playing with dolls as a child. It was in my blood to become a mum. But at the same time the thought of growing another human being inside me honestly freaked me out a little bit. Feeling something inside you moving and kicking. Did you ever think that too?
Well boy was I wrong! Feeling my baby moving around and kicking me brings me so much joy, even when it is 2am and I get woken up by it. It never ceases to put a smile on my face.
I wanted to share with you some moments of utter joy, deep deep love I have never felt before and all with tears running down my cheeks in happiness...I would love for you to reminisce with me as you read through.
// Seeing the positive pregnancy test
I was almost 5 weeks pregnant when I did the pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant. My husband and I had been trying for a couple of months so I didn't want to get my hopes up. I fluffed around while I waited for the result and when I approached the bench and started to see the second pink line appeared, I couldn't believe it. I think it took me a minute or two to register what that meant. Then I burst into tears and started pacing around not knowing what to do with myself. I was overcome with such happiness and disbelief. It had worked! I had a little person growing inside of me!
// Hearing our babies heart beat for the first time
We went to our OB when I was 8 weeks pregnant and she asked us if we had had a dating scan yet, which we hadn't. She got me up on the table and said let's do one then shall we, which I was stoked about but nervous at the same time. Would everything be okay? Thoughts started to race. But as soon as a little jelly bean showed up on the monitor I knew everything was just perfect. There was our little baby. Our OB pointed out its heart beat and turned the sound on, the office flooded with the noise of our bub's heart beat. It was and still is the most beautiful sound I have ever heard. I never get tired of hearing it each time we go for my monthly check ups. I have the video of this moment on my phone which I love to look back on and watch.
// When I first felt my baby kick
I was about 17 weeks pregnant. I was sitting on the couch having my morning tea watching tv. I started to feel this little movement inside and then a little whack against my belly. I was shocked, I looked down and started to rub my belly. I remember saying "did you just kick me bubba?". And whack, again. I almost burst into tears with joy. This was our very first moment of connection together; I will never forget it.
// When my husband first felt our baby kick
I was about 18 weeks pregnant. We were laying in bed and I was trying to explain to him what it felt like when our bub kicked me. He place his hand on my belly and we asked for a kick and sure enough our little bundle of joy obliged. This was the moment my hubby became as excited about this experience as me. He had connected with your baby.
// When my bub started responding to my voice
This only happened the other day; I am almost 26 weeks pregnant as I write this. I was working away on my computer and my bub started moving and kicking around. So as I do, I started rubbing my belly. But this time bub kicked back every time I spoke. I knew we were communicating for the very first time. A feeling overcame me. It was different to the other times I had questioned if bubs was responding to my voice or not. It was without a doubt that my baby could hear me and was letting me know! Tears instantly sprang to my eyes as I was talking away to my belly.
I hope you were able to look back at these experiences you had as you read through mine. Like I mentioned earlier, if you are in your early stages of pregnancy you have so much to look forward to. But do remember that every pregnancy is different, so when the above things occur they may be different for you than they were for me. Let your baby grow and do its thing in its own time.
